A wedding is a show. There are two stars - the Bride and Groom, and a number of well known supporting cast - the Parents, Best Man and Bridesmaids. Then, all the extras - the guests! Like any show a wedding needs an Event Manager to make sure everything runs perfectly!
Just some of my functions as Toastmaster/MC Event Manager at a wedding:
- Greeting the Bride and Bridegroom on arrival at the Reception Venue
- Receiving the guests and guiding them to the reception point
- Organising the receiving-line and announcing the guests
- Assisting with photographs
- Calling guests attention to the seating arrangements and to take their places at the tables for the start of the Wedding Breakfast
- Announcing the Bride and Bridegroom and escorting them to their table
- The saying of grace, if required
- Announcing any informal wine toasts
- Announcing the cutting of the wedding cake
- Introducing the speakers for the customary Toasts and Responses
- Being aware of and handling bouquets and presents
- Arranging the retiring of the Bride and Bridegroom from the table
- Liaising with the band or disco as to their setting up of equipment
- Acting as Master of Ceremonies to commence the dancing and if a formal ball follows, to continue as MC, if arranged
